Altaron Amir Robinson, of Allentown, was shot in the 1900 block of Butztown Road, Bethlehem at 9:29 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, the Lehigh County Coroner detailed.

The shooting was near Governor Wolf Elementary School which closed Friday while police investigated the shooting.

Robinson was pronounced dead at St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem at 3:22 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, Coroner Daniel Buglio explained.

The cause of death was a gunshot(s) wound and the manner was a homicide, Buglio ruled. An autopsy was scheduled at the Lehigh County Coroner's Office and Forensic Center in Northampton County, on Monday, Sept. 30.  The results showed Robinson died from a gunshot to the head.

The Bethlehem Police Department and the Northampton County District Attorney's Office are investigating this murder.

Gianni Santini, 17, was arrested on a warrant Friday morning, Sept. 27, before Robinson's death, the Bethlehem police told us.

"Santini surrendered to police without incident on Friday night," Bethlehem Chief of Police Michelle Kott said.

"The charges have been upgraded to include the charge of Criminal Homicide and well as Robbery, firearms, and weapons offenses," she explained, adding that "The nature of the charges and the use of a deadly weapon means that the charges are properly referred directly to criminal court for prosecution as an adult."

Santini was denied at his preliminary arraignment on Friday night, Sept. 27. A preliminary hearing has yet to be scheduled, according to his court docket.

Additional details were unavailable. Robinson's family is invited to share funeral or fundraiser information, a statement, or photos with Daily Voice by emailing jpikora@dailyvoice.com.
